Can kids Climb?

Yes, but only children aged 10 and over can undertake the Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb. Children aged 10 to 16 must be accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of three children per adult. All Climbers must be over 1.2 metres tall.

Can seniors Climb?

Yes. The oldest Climber to accomplish the Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb was Mrs. Chris Muller, who reached the top at 100 years old.

However you must be reasonably fit and strong, with full body control and hand-eye-coordination. Anyone who can sustain moderate physical exertion for 3½ hours over 1.75km should find the Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb exhilarating. However it is well worth reading about Climb conditions on our Climb Preparation and Challenging Weather pages. We encourage and support all Climbers, but note that we reserve the right to decline participation or modify your the choice of Climb experience. Can people with a fear of heights Climb?

In most cases, yes. In fact, thousands of people have used the challenge of BridgeClimb to overcome their fear of heights. For more information see our Fear of Heights page.

Can pregnant women Climb?

Yes, if you are less than 24 weeks pregnant. You must consult a medical practitioner before undertaking a Climb and ask the medical practitioner to sign a BridgeClimb Certificate of Fitness.

You cannot undertake the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb if you are over 24 weeks pregnant.

Can hearing-impaired people Climb?

Yes. We offer neck loops with a T-switch to deliver the Climb Leader’s commentary and facts about Sydney to hearing aids.

We also offer Auslan Climbs, with an Australian sign language interpreter to convey commentary and facts about Sydney, on the fourth Tuesday and fourth Saturday of each month at 1.45pm. For more information contact our Ticketing Hotline.

Can People with a disability or medical condition Climb?

It depends on your situation. In general you can climb if you have:

  • reasonable levels of fitness and strength
  • full body control and hand-eye-foot coordination
  • ability to climb independently (unsupported by walking aids)

You are unable to climb if you:

  • are under 1.2 metres in height
  • have broken bones
  • have undergone surgery in the last 6 months or are experiencing ongoing symptoms
  • have experienced a fit or seizure in the past 6 months and do not hold a driver's licence for this reason

The following conditions may impact your ability to make the Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb safely:

  • all heart conditions (including high blood pressure)
  • all respiratory conditions
  • missing or partly missing limbs, including prosthetics
  • vertigo, dizziness or loss of balance
  • visual impairment (except wearing prescription glasses or contact lenses)
  • learning conditions

Can people with injuries Climb?

It depends on your injury. You cannot climb if you have any broken bones and back, limb or joint injuries may affect your ability to undertake the Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb.

What are the Climbing conditions on the Bridge?

The BridgeClimb experience includes:

  • climbing high ladders and catwalks
  • prolonged stair climbing
  • uneven surfaces and narrow passageways
  • exposure to all weather conditions

Can I take a camera or video camera?

No. No personal items can be taken on the Bridge and all Climbers must pass through a metal detector.

Climb Leaders are equipped with cutting-edge digital cameras to capture the moment at the top. All Climbers receive their complimentary photo of their Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb group, with all Climbers in the group receiving an identical photo. Additional photos are taken which can be purchased at the end of your Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb.

Can I bring glasses or sunglasses?

Yes. We supply lanyards to secure your glasses and sunglasses on your Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb.

Can I bring medication?

At BridgeClimb's discretion, essential medication may be taken on the Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb (e.g: asthma inhalers or diabetic medication). Please speak with a Team Member on the day or contact the Ticketing Hotline.

What kind of shoes should I wear?

You must wear fully enclosed rubber-soled shoes such as running, sport or hiking shoes, which offer comfort, support and grip. PVC and leather-soled shoes are not suitable.

Where can I leave my belongings while I’m Climbing?

Fully secured lockers are provided to store your personal items during your Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb. You take the key with you on your Climb, safely secured under your BridgeSuit.

How long does it take to reach the top of the Bridge from the time of check-in?

From check-in, it takes about two hours to reach the top of the Bridge. The first hour includes a comprehensive briefing and safety demonstration, followed by an hour walking to the top.

So, if you are arranging a special occasion and would like to be at the top of the Bridge at a specific time, ensure that you make your booking for the Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb approximately two hours beforehand. For assistance, contact the BridgeClimb Ticket Hotline.

The entire BridgeClimb experience takes approximately 3½ hours.
